Our human-grade turkey is slow-cooked at 82C to lock in the freshness for taste and to protect the protein and all its nutrients. By cooking at such low temperatures the meat also stays intact; this way your pet can more easily digest the turkey and as a result produce much less waste! Cooking turkey at a much higher 300C will unfortunately denature the protein thus decreasing its bioavailability. Rest assured that we don't do this!
Turkey meat is actually quite rich in B vitamins, such as B1, B2, B3, B6, and B12. B3 is important for energy production, B6 supports amino acid formation, B12 is vital for making DNA and red blood cells. Turkey meat also contains folate, selenium, zinc and phosphorus which is good for bone health. It also contains magnesium and potassium.
As turkey is naturally low in fat it can also help weight loss, so long as your pet follows our feeding guidelines and gets regular exercise. Turkey meat is also lower in purine.
