Haddock
All our haddock, salmon and trout come from responsible and sustainable sources from within the UK. This makes our fish naturally high in Omega oils. Haddock contains plenty Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. This helps to lower LDL cholesterol and the chances of heart ailments. Omega-3 also helps your dog’s vision, brain development, skin, joints and it also helps to manage inflammation. Haddock also contains many vitamins and minerals, including calcium, magnesium and phosphorus that help maintain teeth and bones. Magnesium helps maintain healthy blood pressure and phosphorus is important for kidney health. The vitamins in haddock also include B12 which is good for repairing, maintaining and making red blood cells, plus it is good for nerve health. The vitamin B6 in haddock is essential for skin health and helps to clear dandruff, eczema, dry skin and even helps prevent hair loss.
Sweet potato
Sweet potato is rich in fibre, they are also easily digestible. This sweet potato for dogs recipe helps to prevent vitamin A deficiency because of their high levels of beta-carotene, this vitamin is integral for promoting good vision. They also contain vitamin C and E, all of which promote skin and hair health. Vitamin C is critical for a properly functioning immune system. As sweet potatoes contain a significant amount of fibre, they also promote a well-functioning digestive tract, which helps to provide good stool formation. They are also an important source of magnesium, which helps alleviate the symptoms of anxiety-related behaviours.
Parsley
Parsley contains microbial properties to help freshen breath. It is also rich in antioxidants which help prevent free-radical damage eliminating harmful chemicals in the blood. It also helps relieve swelling and pain in arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. The vitamin K in parsley helps prevent blood clotting and improves liver health. Parsley can also help to soothe an upset stomach and digestive problems. It contains histidine, an amino acid found to help inhibit tumour growth. It is also known as a chemo-protective food.
Sunflower
Sunflower and olive oil has been added to this recipe to provide many additional benefits, such as vitamin E, which is an important antioxidant and a key player for optimal immune function. Both also help protect against heart disease. Sunflower oil also contains Omega 6, which helps to lower harmful LDL cholesterol. It also contains linoleic acid which is an essential fatty acid that lowers the risk of heart disease. Unfortunately, dogs can’t make this themselves, which is why it has been added to this recipe. Olive oil is also anti-inflammatory. It supports healthy ageing, fights cancer and is a great source of amino acids. Both also protect against eye, skin and coat problems, which is great for dogs. They also help to clean the digestive tract and improve bowel movements!
MOS and FOS
This fish kibble contains the natural prebiotics MOS and FOS that feed the good bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium found in the colon of our dogs. They come from plants such as asparagus, chicory and artichoke. The good bacteria then multiply so that bacteria such as salmonella and clostridium find it difficult to grow in numbers. This recipe is a perfect gastrointestinal dry dog food.
Linseed
Linseeds (also called flaxseeds) are rich in both Omega 3 and Omega 6 essential fatty acids which dogs can’t make on their own. Omega 6 is important for immune and cell functions, and it helps to soften and shine coats. Omega 3 is essential to the brain, central nervous tissue, and vision. It is also known to reduce any joint and skin inflammation. Linseeds also make this dog food good for digestion because of their natural fibre content.
